Very Sad Cane Chair

Here is a nice Cane Backchair I found at our local thrift store.  Actually I found a set of 4, Wow can you believe that.  I've had a great time painting them, but chose to do so in pairs of two. the first set I did in this creamy oil paint with a walnut stain to antique it (The other two I painted pure white, I will show in a future  post). So anywhoo with a little and a lot of TLC, I brought it back to life!

BEFORE

I covered it in a green velvet I bought as a small remnant for only $5.00 a yard, WooHoo what a Deal, right. And then glued some fringy trim all around the edge.  Now, Although I like the way it turned out, since I have painted the other 2 in Pure White, I think I will go back at some point and paint this and her matching partner also in the pure white.  Don't hold me to it of course I've been known to change my mind from time to time.

  3. Wow, you did a great job on this cane chair!!
Nice details and love the fringe trim too:)

I'm currently working ( or stopped working...)on a cane back chair too but I'm too lazy to go buy braided trim so it just sits in a room at the moment, lol
I'm looking forward to seeing your white pairs as well :)

    1. Thank you for reading and sharing! My advice on cane chairs, is to take the seat apart as much as you can to recover. It is very simple and will save you on the trim. I'm looking forward to finishing the white ones as well and getting them up for show!
